The COLTS Program
The COLTS (Community Organized for Learning, Training and Sharing) project is a unique woodshop program that offers a hands-on teaching approach for the high school student who wants to learn such things as timber framing, shop carpentry, and basic construction skills. Located in Huffman, Texas, the program is the brainchild of Guild member Paul Cooper, and it is being led by Guild members Bonnie and Simon Gnehm. The program now has more than twenty students and is being supported by the Huffman School District and government grants. We invite you to read about the program and to offer your support, either by helping out at the raising of the timber frame shop April 24-25, 1999, and/or by donating to the Guild Scholarship Fund, which helps support the students' involvement with Guild projects, like the upcoming Habitat for Humanity Rendezvous in Virginia. |
