Timber Framing Workshop at Hancock Shaker Village
September 2000 Jack Sobon and Dave Carlon have concluded their annual week-long workshop at Hancock Shaker Village, Hancock, Mass., when about 15 participants used only hand tools to cut a small 14' x 16' timber frame building. On Sunday, they raised the structure. The timber framing demonstration was part of a weekend-long celebration of traditional crafts, including blacksmithing, woodworking, weaving, and basket making at the Village. There was also one of the largest heritage livestock exhibitions from the New England Heritage Breeds Conservancy, with many exhibitors showing their rare breeds and heritage livestock.
 With the trademark round stone barn in the background, the timber framing class at Hancock Shaker Village learns the traditional building ways.
