2008 Traditional Building Historic Preservation Field School

The 2008 Traditional Building Historic Preservation Field School will offer an
interdisciplinary, project-based learning experience that will contribute to the ongoing
disaster recovery efforts in the historic Holy Cross neighborhood of the Lower 9th Ward,
New Orleans, Louisiana.
This eight-week program is designed to bring students and apprentices in historic preservation, architecture, engineering, and allied fields together to experience historic, preservation-oriented green design and sustainable construction techniques in a post-disaster environment.
Participants will survey and document historic structures, explore methodologies for
sustainable rehabilitation, and participate in hands-on efforts to repair damaged
structures. Students will also explore the unique architectural heritage of New Orleans
though tours and field trips.
Cost: $4,250; Includes housing, 9hrs UF graduate credit, PTN Certificate of
Completion
