DESIGNING THE TIMBER FRAME HOME
June 11-15, Washington, MA. Tuition fee: $475 per member, $500 per non-member, and $900 per couple (including lunch). Registration Form Sept. 30 - Oct 5, offered by Rocky Mt. Workshops (co-sponsored by TFG), Pingree Park, CO Register for CO workshop at www.over-land.com/logbuilder.html.
Course Description
In this course, you'll learn to draw site plans and determine contours, discover how to apply a timber structural grid to "bubble diagrams" and see how this grid then generates working drawings from which to estimate costs and schedule the construction. Much of our time will be spent developing and drawing plans, elevations and sections, culminating in the building of models. Please bring with you any ideas, sketches or basic plans you wish to revise, as well as pictures and topographic maps of your potential site if you have one. This course concentrates on whole house architectural design and will not focus on specific engineering principles of timber frame construction. For those interested in the technical details of timber framing, we recommend our course on Timber Frame Engineering and Joinery Decisions.
