Join us for the 8th Children’s Workshop, which has become a highlight at the Conferences.
With remarkable skill and ingenuity people used materials at hand to build shelters to survive their environments. These skills were handed down by hands-on experience. Children learned as they worked alongside the older folk.
Come play, share your enthusiasm, and pass on your knowledge. Thanks to this event’s success at previous Conferences, the Guild now has money earmarked exclusively for the Children’s Workshop to provide a few scholarships to both kids and instructors, add to the tool cache, and help provide childcare to the youngest kids. Age groups will be 12 and over (full participation, with scholarships available); 4-11 (supervised participation); 3 and under (childcare with parents volunteering some time per child). To get things started, we are asking parents, kids and instructors to commit early. Parents will be asked to volunteer for at least two 1.5 hour sessions. Three paid instructors are needed.
Workshops will run Friday and Saturday, morning and afternoon, during the Main Conference breakout sessions. To get an accurate estimate of how many children will be attending, please circle on the Registration Form the name(s) of your children who will participate. You may also sign your children up at the Conference (space permitting) when you arrive. If you are registering online, indicate your interest in this program in the Comments section of the online registration form or put an "X" before the child's name. Timber framers interested in assisting should also indicate this when registering for the Conference.
